Started in 2014 by guitarist Kent Engström, Swedish act Backwood Spirit live for the classic /retro rock foundation on this self-titled debut album. We know that it seems very hip these days to perform in a throwback style, but as long as the songwriting and performances come from the heart, it's a welcome relief from much of the commercial humdrum efforts coming down the pike.

Göran Edman as a singer brings the material to elevated Paul Rodgers oriented heights with a bluesy, high octane melodic base for "Gimme Good Lovin'" and be very restrained and tender on a ballad like "Get Your Wings". Hammond organ action and natural tones stir up thoughts as if you are moving 40 + years back in time - Bad Company and Lynyrd Skynyrd would be proud of their influence on this group. Backwood Spirit make the listener feel the harmonies, the bends, and the comfortable bluesy grooves just as the Black Crowes did for the previous generation.

Conveying at the UK/Southern rock altar, this eight song platter will gain appreciation from multiple factions of the music community.
