The Swedish five-piece Crazy Lixx released this hugely entertaining album of theirs entitled "Ruff Justice" a few weeks ago and there is absolutely no reason not to dig this stuff if hard rock, sleaze rock, and glam rock appeal to you. Inspired by everything that was awesome in the 80s, Crazy Lixx chronicles that decade by means of insanely catchy songs filled with huge and anthemic choruses, fist-pumping riffs, memorable guitar solos, and great vocals. Chrisse Olsson and Jens Lundgren rule the guitars with an iron fist while frontman Danny Rexon clearly puts his heart and soul into the song material. With a powerful rhythm section consisting of Joél Cirera (drums) and Jens Sjöholm (bass) firmly in place, it is no wonder that the album sounds as punchy as it does. While parallels can be drawn to Motley Crue, Whitesnake, Judas Priest, "Appetite for Destruction"-era Guns 'N Roses, and a long line of similar artists, Crazy Lixx have a charm and sound of their own. The highlights are "Shot With a Needle of Love", "Wild Child", and "Hunter of the Heart". Unfortunately, the record loses a bit of its momentum around "Snakes in Paradise" and "If It's Love", but those are the only two tunes that do not really cut it for me. Otherwise, we are dealing with a fun, accessible, and uplifting album containing ten energetic and kick-ass rock 'n' roll tracks. Good songwriting coupled with excellent musicianship and a great production - You simply cannot go wrong with this one. https://www.facebook.com/crazylixx
