grium.pngYours truly stumbled on this rather interesting and moody 3-track demo by the Slovakian black metal outfit named Grium the other day and it turned out to be a pretty cool happening. There is next to no info out there on Grium, but so much the better, me thinks.
There is nothing wrong with a black metal band being shrouded in mystery. The three songs that constitute this digital demo release all contain strong melodies with a melancholic quality to them and the murky sound underline and emphasize their morose and eerie aura.
The musicianship is solid and the vocals are utterly convincing. There is nothing new to what Grium offers here, but nevertheless, this is some haunting and intriguing stuff with quite a few nuances to it that brings to mind some of those pioneering Norwegian acts from the glorious 90s. Recommended if you are on the lookout for highly obscure underground black metal.
