GARY MOORE LIve From London album cover.jpgThe sadly missed Gary Moore (Thin Lizzy, BBM) surely needs no introduction; the guy revolutionized the blues and did wonders for hard rock and classic too, and let us not forget that he played a pivotal part in crafting Thin Lizzy's “Black Rose” (1979) LP.

Recorded at the awesome Islington Academy in London back in 2009, “Live From London” is undoubtedly one of the finest and most exhilarating live documents by the legend that yours truly has come across yet. It also pays tribute to some of the greatest blues men to have walked the earth such as Albert King, John Mayall, and Otis Rush. There is an abundance of energy present on the disc that is invigorating and it definitely sounds like Gary, his fellow musicians, and the audience are having a grand fucking time rocking out to blistering and muscular renditions of “Oh, Pretty Woman” and “Since I Met You Baby”. Timeless classics ala “Still Got the Blues” and “Parisienne Walkways” are also aired and sound phenomenal. However, the standout track is the massively heartfelt version of “All Your Love” about midway through the set...words fail me here, so just listen to that one, okay? Only “Have You Heard” lacks the drive and passion that all the other cuts possess.

Apart from the musicianship being awe-inspiring, “Live From London” comes across as a more vibrant, playful, and overall fun record than most other live albums by Gary Moore as some of the others have a tendency to sound a little stiff and rigid to these ears. Luckily, this 2009 captures Moore and his skilled cohorts in all their raw glory and this is a great representation of just how wild and fiery they could be when at the top of their game in a live setting.
